Youth Education in the Arts is excited to welcome Amy Andrews and Martin Taylor as the newest members of our Board of Directors. Amy and Martin are both Cadet alumni with diverse professional backgrounds and years of experience.
A senior executive in the US Department of Defense (DoD), Amy Andrews has strong technical leadership experience. She is a strategic leader who excels at developing visions to drive change, especially in the adoption of new technology. She has served in many roles, including technical director, organizational leader, project/product manager and technical expert. She holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
Amy has a passion for developing professionals. She believes in the individual and is an influential mentor and coach. She works to pull the best out of each member of the team.
Amy was introduced to drum corp early having grown up with a parent who marched in a senior drum corps. She spent her younger years with the Toledo Glassman then graduated to The Cadets and marched during their early DCI championship years. She is excited to be a member of the Board of Directors.
Amy is married to Scott and they have three children. They love to be together as a family, exploring the outdoors and enjoying time with friends.
Martin is an energetic Big 4 trained Finance Director with 25 years of commercial board level experience. He has worked on all aspects of financial due diligence within private businesses in the logistics, technology, professional and business services industries. He has been responsible for stakeholder relations, equity and debt funding, business strategy, day to day treasury and accounting support and contract administration in private equity-backed firms.
Martin is currently the European Finance Director for Worldnet International, a US-based global group involved in express logistics in the fashion industry. He is known for his strong leadership and analytical skills, with a healthy ability to thrive under pressure and rapid change.
In the past, he has performed successful due diligence on technology businesses with regard to staff, products and services, the software development process, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, backup and recovery, and intellectual property. He has worked to secure stakeholder support for profitable growing businesses based on robust financial forecasts and building strong relationships based on trust. At the top levels of business, he has improved presentation quality and shortened delivery time of management reporting to enhance the quality of strategic decision-making. As a result of his work, companies have seen increased profitability and cash retention through a comprehensive combination of finance and operations restructuring, improved margins, costs reductions and inefficiency elimination.
Financial risk reviews, including risk register compilation and key risk management, have also been Martin's specialties. He has also worked on sales, direct costs, gross margin and overhead trends and analysis reviews. Taxation compliance review, HR and payroll review and improvements, financial forecast assumptions reviews and sensitivity analysis have also played a major role in Martin's work. Martin is known for his crisp, non-jargon reporting of strategic, tactical and operational financial information at the Investor and Board levels.
Martin brings rigorous strategic and system planning, robust budget preparation, clear project management, persuasive negotiation and solid financial management to the Board of Directors.
Martin is alumni of The Cadets, having marched with the Corps in 1989, which is where he first met his wife Meg.
