The USBands Director is responsible for all activities that have an effect on the achievement of the goals of the department/program. A key member of the senior management team, the Director manages the activities of the USBands staff, maximizes net income and influences the future direction of the program. The USBands Director must keep in balance the double bottom line and be both mission-driven and business focused. It is the responsibility of the Director to build vision and strategies with the Executive Director and Board of Directors into plans which contain the practical steps needed to bring that vision to reality, and to direct staff to operationalize those plans. The USBands Director reports to the Executive Director.
The Director oversees and is ultimately responsible for all activities of USBands. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Creating Relationships and Program Income Development
The USBands Director will create, maintain and retain relationships that promote and support the goals of USBands.
Having an affinity for addressing issues creatively, for conceptualizing alternative responses to challenges, and for translating client needs into practical services are necessary skills.
The Director is of high integrity in financial and managerial matters and is honest and fair with staff, members, and all stakeholders. This requires excellent communication skills and a keen understanding of human relations and interactions.
The Director will have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a related field (Business, Music, Education) and relevant Master Degree preferred. This position requires significant experience in a nonprofit organization, education or business, with a track record in a management position. This person is accustomed to working cooperatively with constituents who may be competitive and/or who have disparate goals and aspirations and will provide evidence of successful collaboration in such environments. Finally, the Director will have achieved a record of advancement indicative of leadership and management acumen in positions of progressively increasing responsibility.
This is an exempt salaried position, requiring significant weekend commitments and travel.
YEA! is a not for profit organization with offices in Allentown, PA which services young people after school and on weekends. Consequently, there are a number of weekends involved in the position. Travel can be within the tri-state area but there are, on occasion, national events to attend, as well as regional and special events.
Full time office hours are Monday – Friday, 8-5 and additional hours may be warranted during more active periods.
